Meet Liza
About Liza
Liza Oates PhD is a highly experienced naturopathic practitioner, wellness consultant and mentor. She began practice in 2000 and has been involved in the clinical education of hundreds of naturopaths, nutritionists and medical students.
Her doctoral research investigated ‘the health and wellness effects of organic diets’ and she also holds Graduate Certificates in Learning & Teaching, and Evidence Based Complementary Medicine; and a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy).
Liza is an Adjunct Fellow at the National Centre for Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) at SCU, where she teaches 'Food as Medicine'; and a Fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM). She also teaches and supervisors clinical students at SSNT, and conducts tutorials in Health Enhancement and mindfulness for Monash University medical students.
Liza is a prior member of the Environment and Sustainability Subcommittee of the NHAA and a current board member for the JFNT whose mission is to promote the development of a community of researchers, scholars and leaders in the Australian naturopathic profession.
Liza has written extensively about evidence-based complementary medicine and has appeared as an expert guest on The Project, Insight and over 200 radio programs.
In addition to her academic commitments Liza practices online as a naturopath and and facilitates individualised online wellness and lifestyle medicine programs.
